Her Japanese name translates to deep heartfelt gratitude and appreciation, qualities that have been on boundless display during Kansha's stay with me in foster care. Kansha is a bouncy bundle of joy who loves human companionship, wanting nothing more than to be included in your daily life. Kansha will readily engage in playing tug and fetch and absolutely revels in the challenge of finding the "squeak" in all of her toys. Her favourite thing is to curl up by your side on the sofa, head and paw on your lap for cuddles and slumber. Please expect adoring gazes and sighs of contentedness. Kansha is house trained and will go to the back door to alert you that she needs to go outside to do her business. Kansha has been left at home, whilst I have been working full-time, for up to 9 hours, without destruction or accidents. She does bark for a few minutes when first left alone, however settles quickly with her enrichment toys and having the radio left on for her. Prepare yourself, she is extra happy to see you when you get home and will be giving lots of kisses! Kansha sleeps well overnight, snoozing on the end of the bed. We know that Kansha has had a challenging start to her four years of life. She was left by her original owner at a friend's house and they never returned for her. The friend did their best while they could, however Kansha did not receive training, lead work or socialisation with other dogs. Following a brief period of fostering with SODR, Kansha was adopted into a loving home at Easter for approximately three months. Unfortunately through no fault of her own, Kansha had to be returned due to a change in personal circumstances for the family. In light of this, Kansha will need commitment from her new family to train her on how to walk on a lead. Due to her excitability when meeting new people and other dogs Kansha pulls on her lead and is easily distracted when outside of the home. Kansha does need to learn doggie manners as she missed being socialised as a pup. Her enthusiasm to meet other dogs and difficulty recognising and responding appropriately to behavioural cues from other dogs mean that Kansha needs to be the only dog in her new home. She is currently responding well to this in her foster home, loving all the attention! Kansha has been friendly and affectionate to all visitors to my home. She is great with kids, having previously lived with children on a consistent basis. In her new home, older dog savvy children are advised, due to the risk of Kansha's stocky build and excitability knocking over little ones. Secure fencing around the yard is a must, as Kansha's night time duty is to protect her family from those pesky possums and she has springs in those legs! There are no issues with her being in the garden alone during the day.
