She’s still got teenage energy - she loves a good long walk and a run around the garden and to play tug with her people, and needs to continue to be supported to find her “off switch”. Since coming into foster care, she’s been on walks, gone to the office with her foster mum, and been on car rides — all of which she takes in stride. She can be left alone for a few hours with minimal issues apart from chewing on shoes! She loves attention and always wants to please and be at your side, and she will need to continue training to solidify commands with distractions around, as she just loves the world around her and wants to explore - smells, sounds, other people! Best suited to a home with a yard that she can run around in, and someone who is home more often than not, Barrymore will make a fabulous family dog for those with older, dog-savvy kids. She has been in foster care with a cat, but she is boisterous and would need careful introductions to only the most dog-savvy cat. She would prefer a home without. She has some over excited reactivity when on walks that will need continual working through, either with an experienced owner or a trainer, but has never been aggressive, growled, or snapped at another dog, and has already improved since coming into care. She is, however, strong and barks and leaps towards other dogs when on the lead. Due to her boisterous nature, she would benefit from either being an only dog, or having a dog friend who is a similar size to her, or can handle some rough play. Similarly, she would suit a home where she is with only adults or dog-savvy kids - over 10 at least.
